Why are you so afraid of being judged?

I have been seeing this quote being pasted and posted on friends’ social media – “Don’t judge my path if you haven’t walked my journey.” Obviously, based on the likes they got, the amount of shares and the comments that followed, I think many people liked it. It resonated with them.

I am not so sure if it is a good quote or if it does anything positive.

First question, how much equal experience and how exact does that experience have to be before someone can make a judgment? Can a billionaires’ father who was a pauper make judgment on how his billionaire daughter is spending her money? He obviously has not walked her journey, but it would be foolish to think an old pauper has no wisdom to impart.

Second question, when is a comment a feedback, a constructive criticism, a suggestion, a well intended warning or a judgment? In my opinion, all of the above needs the person who gave the comment to take a stand, and by taking a stand that person is making a type of judgment.

Third question, why would you be bothered by how people judge you? If the judgment makes sense use it to make yourself or your organization better. If it doesn’t, rubbish it. Move on. We have all done that. A lion doesn’t care if the zebras judge it to be cruel. The lion will wake up and run faster than the weakest zebra that day and eat it for breakfast.
